Textile is an up and coming material in architecture, not only for interior but more and more in exteriors as well. The possibilities with textiles, other fabrics and meshes are endless. BuckyLab already acknowledges these possibilities and decided to focus on textile sun shading this semester. We from BouT want to give an extracurricular opportunity to get to know more about this new approach to architecture and materialisation. Therefor we offer students the possibility of an excursion to Poly-Ned.
Poly-Ned has over 35 years of experience in textile architecture; functional and aesthetic design using textile and wire mesh fabrics. A few of their known projects are the renovation of the Westraven in Utrecht, the new addition to Stedelijk museum in Amsterdam and Schiphol Plaza. Poly-Ned has given us the opportunity to look at their production facility and office. They will provide us with lectures about textile architecture and the special requirements for designing with these materials.
The excursion will be on Tuesday, the 23rd of April. The bus will depart from the parking lot at the backside of BK-City at 8:00, to bring a maximum of 44 participants to Steenwijk, where the office of Poly-Ned is. We will be back around 15:30.
